Social procurement reporting

Understand what information Agencies need to capture to report on social procurement.

Reporting requirements

All Agencies must report under the Social Procurement Framework.

Agencies must:

  • contribute to whole-of-government reporting on aggregated outcomes for the reporting period
  • report on social procurement for the reporting period in their own annual report (Report of Operations)

Note: Social procurement reporting occurs annually. Reporting periods follow the financial year (1 July to 30 June).

Whole-of-government reporting

Agencies must report their social procurement direct spend to the Department of Government Services.

The Department will aggregate this spend data for the purpose of whole-of-government reporting.

Each reporting period, the Department will issue a reference guide to Agencies with further instructions for whole-of-government reporting. The reference guide explains:

  • how Agencies calculate their social procurement direct spend
  • key steps and dates for reporting

Agency-level reporting

Agencies must include the following information in their own annual report:

  • the Social Procurement Framework objectives / outcomes prioritised in their Social Procurement Strategy
  • a summary of activities to support their Social Procurement Strategy during the reporting period (e.g. capability building activities)
  • a summary of key achievements in delivering Social Procurement Framework outcomes during the reporting period, including Agencies’ social procurement direct spend.

Agencies may also include:

  • indirect spend
  • non-spend metrics (e.g. employment outcomes)
  • case studies
